When I thought I have stayed and seen some of the most exotic resorts in the world, my entire experience at Borgo Egnazia was definitely beyond my expectation.
Borgo Egnazia is a luxurious (yet not as pricey as it seems) village resort located in the deep heel of Italy, in the province of Puglia (Apulia).
The fact that it is not one of those Italian mainstream destinations in Italy such as Rome, Milan, Florence or Lake Como really excites me.
I was filled with curiosity when I first got invited to attend a wedding in Borgo Egnazia as I had never heard of Puglia province before, let alone Borgo Egnazia.

A google search later, I found out that this is the same venue where Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel were married. It is also the venue of one extravagant Indian wedding (covered by Vanity Fair).
The nearest airport to Borgo Egnazia is Bari Airport, reachable by Ryan Air’s direct flight from Paris Beauvais, be mindful though it is a 1,5-hour to drive from Paris city center.
Arriving in Bari and Borgo Egnazia
Our VIP experience started the moment we landed at Bari Airport, we were picked up by a gentleman in a suit who was driving a luxury van and took us straight to Borgo Egnazia (about a 45-minute drive from Bari Airport).
Just before we entered the gates of Borgo Egnazia was a beautiful field of olive trees surrounded by ancient walls and natural street paving.
It was breathtaking as we caught a glimpse of the main building and were greeted by hotel staff who were dressed in white polo shirts and khakis, some were even eye candies (gotta give it to them Italian men), and of course the Italian warmth made us feel very welcome. A really good change of courtesy coming in from France to Italy.

Arriving at our 3-Bedroom Villa
We were escorted immediately to our beautiful villa by one of the resort managers, our van drove us straight to our villa and the manager gave us a quick tour of the rooms and facilities.
The resort manager checked us in once we arrived at the villa which I thought was convenient because we didn’t have to go to the main building’s reception.
The villa felt like a dream home with such a calming and gorgeous color palette that it was beautiful to take photos from every corner.
Don’t get me started on the lobby and facilities, every single corner’s design was well thought of and would trigger your every sense to detox and mesmerized.
There were 2 living rooms in the villa which I thought was unnecessary yet could be functional for bigger families.
Facilities
The facilities of this resort is endless and I highly recommend getting to places in a bicycle (complimentary) or you can easily get one near the main building.
That feeling of riding around the resort and to the beach club is nothing but eternal joy.
Why is it a bargain?
It may seem like this kind of resort would charge you a fortune.
Well I’m happy to tell you that it is way cheaper than staying in a standard (shoebox) hotel room in Paris, New York or even a 5-star hotel in Jakarta. YES!
A 3-bedroom villa would cost an average of €800 per night, which translates to about €265 per room (€123/person/night). This rate comes with all the facilities including free bike rental, buggy/cart, gym, outdoor/indoor pool, kids club, I mean it doesn’t get any better than this?
One night in a 4-star hotel in Paris or New York could easily cost you at least USD 400/night.
And at this level of luxury and facilities – I’d say it’s pretty high up there with Aman Resorts’ service and facilities – and staying in one of the Aman Resorts would cost at least USD 700/night.
How awesome is Borgo’s price?
Final Words
This resort is perfect for everyone from a solo trip, couples, groups to families.
The resort is really magical that it spoils all your senses from sight, sound, touch, hear and taste.
Everything we experienced was just exceptional that I often feel a disbelief just being there.
It really does feel like a holiday for a princess – for a bargain!
