[Review] Spent a Night in Intercontinental Singapore

Since there is no direct flight Jakarta to Siem Reap, I had to fly Singapore Airlines and decided to spend a night in Singapore on my way to Cambodia. I used this opportunity to stay at Intercontinental Singapore.

The hotel’s rate is quite expensive at 280 SGD/night for a Deluxe Room with two double beds. But in my opinion, this price is justifiable with all the service that they offer.

The Details:

  • When: 6-7 March 2019
  • Where: Bugis Area, Singapore
  • Loyalty: IHG Rewards Club, Platinum Elite
  • Rate: 60,000 points/night
  • Room: Deluxe Room with two double beds
  • Value: SGD 280/night

I arrived pretty late around 10 at night, at check-in they offered whether I would like for welcome drinks or welcome points bonus. I chose the welcome points bonus since I wanted to roam around the area to find something to eat.

Finished with the check-in process, I went straight to the room. To be honest, I was very excited about the room, because it is IHG top tier hotel. I couldn’t wait to see my room. The room really didn’t disappoint, it was big and comfy. The bathroom is big and spacious, complete with the luxury of a bathtub ?.

The beds are the best, they are not too hard or too soft. I asked for extra pillows beforehand and they delivered. A small touch but memorable for me.

I was caught by surprise when I turned on the TV. I felt really welcome when I saw my name on the welcome message. In addition to that, I could order a few services without picking up the phone, just order them from the TV. I ordered for a comb and memory foam pillow. Not too long after, I got my order in the room. What a nice experience.

The hotel’s facilities are really good too. The gym is pretty spacious, they even provide a space to do yoga and TRX. The locker room was complete with a sauna room. I have never seen such a spacious gym facility in a hotel before.

The swimming pool is outdoor. It is a good size, not too big not too small. Pretty decent for their guests. While you are swimming, you get to enjoy the view of Singapore from the top. Too bad I didn’t get a chance to try all the facilities.

Final notes:

  • The location of the hotel is strategic, really close to Bugis Junction and MRT Station. Around the hotel’s area, there are a lot of food stall and Albert hawker center too.
  • The hotel’s facilities are good, especially the room and the gym. Those two aspects are exceeding my expectation
  • The hotel’s service is memorable. They really deliver by going above and beyond.

In conclusion, I would recommend this hotel to anyone. I really enjoy my short stay here. Everything is excellent and up to the standard. In the future, I would like to come back and stay a little bit longer just to experience their excellent service. In my opinion, SGD 280/night is expensive, but it was worth every penny.
