[Review] AirAsia Indonesia CGK-DPS A320

I went to Bali back in early September to do my first Full Marathon ever (Maybank Bali Marathon 2019) and review AirAsia A320. It was an indescribable feeling when you passed the finish line after almost 7 hours of running! I decided to fly with AirAsia Indonesia because all other domestic tickets were expensive. AirAsia is using A320-200 for this route. Here is my review flying with AirAsia A320 to DPS.

BOOKING

After I signed up for the marathon, I booked my flight directly from AirAsia website (www.airasia.com). It was relatively quick and easy. Also, please don’t forget to sign in with your BIG Points membership so you get extra discounts and points as well.

CHECK IN

Since I planned to stay just for the marathon, I packed lightly and no need to queue for check in. I did my online check-in couple days before my flight through the apps. The whole process is done in a few minutes.

AirAsia Indonesia flight operated out of Terminal 2E through Gate 3. When I came to the check-in area, the line was already long. I was glad that I did online check-in so I saved plenty of time.

If you are not comfortable with online check-in system, Soekarno Hatta airport has self check in counters too, complete with the luggage scale to weigh your luggage (don’t forget to make sure that your luggage comply with AirAsia hand baggage weight limit).

Jakarta – Denpasar

  • Aircraft: Airbus A320
  • Route: Jakarta (CGK) to Denpasar (DPS)
  • Flight Number: QZ 7518
  • Flight Time: 1 Hours 43 Minutes
  • Seat Configuration: 3-3 (All Economy)
  • Seat Numbers: 23F

When I checked in, AirAsia randomly picked your seat (unless you want to upgrade for Hot Seat (seat 1-5) with a fee). I was seated 23F and I did not care for upgrading my seat since it was only roughly 2hrs flight anyway. But, once I sat down and looked down on my knee, you knew it was very tight!!! I tried to get my comfy position but it didn’t help at all.

Suddenly, the flight attendant asked around my area, “Anyone traveling alone and would like to move to the front seat?” Without hesitation, I raised my hand (and yelled as well haha) and she escorted me to seat 9D. My legs were “screaming” happily because I got an aisle seat!

During the flight, AirAsia offered food  and duty free products for purchase. I did notice that not too many people willing to buy probably because it was a night flight and they rather sleeping during the flight. The FAs were very proactive and kind to all passengers. They’re making sure all passengers were comfortable during the flight. An hour and 43 minutes later, we landed in Bali smoothly (great job Captain and First Officer!).

OVERALL IMPRESSIONS

I enjoyed this quick flight to Bali. It was a smooth sailing flight with little bit of turbulence. The cabin feel was okay but the FAs were pretty good. I did not try any of their Santan product but maybe next time when I fly with them.
